Former foreign news journalist turned tech executive, Patrick has been at the forefront of the convergence of media and technology since the start of his career producing educational TV for Japan’s national broadcaster NHK and covering regional hotspots as the BBC’s South East Asia Bureau Chief.
Hired by Google in 2006 to lead their international video strategy, Patrick transitioned to become YouTube’s first international employee, launching the platform in over 80 countries worldwide. After a stint building, selling and becoming the CEO of an online video start-up, Patrick was drawn back to Big Tech to lead Facebook and Instagram’s video efforts as the Director of Media Partnerships for EMEA.
In 2019, Patrick committed himself to the future of learning as the Co-Founder of Uptime (www.uptime.app), a ‘Knowledge Hacking’ app whose mission is to inspire anyone to learn and thrive in a fast-changing world. Within one year of launch, Uptime was selected as one of Google Play's Best Apps of 2021 in Personal Growth, and is regularly featured by Apple as an Editor's Choice and App of the Day.
